Farmers Assistant Limited (FAL) is a green economy enterprise committed to providing eco-friendly, clean heat solutions. Specialising in the production of eco-burn charcoal briquettes, FAL offers an alternative energy source for cooking and heating.
These briquettes feature high density, compact volume, and excellent flammability, with additional benefits like extended burn time, strong heat output, smokeless operation, odourless and no popping during use.
FAL’s mission is to increase access to sustainable, affordable and environmentally friendly cooking fuels, aiming to reduce dependence on traditional wood charcoal and firewood.
The company focuses on reaching the 70% of Malawi’s peri-urban and urban households that currently rely on charcoal for cooking. FAL also targets approximately 1,000 institutions with high firewood demand, such as schools, rural restaurants, refugee camps, and supermarkets for retail sales.
Currently, FAL lacks adequate factory premises with a stable three-phase power supply, which has limited its production capacity. To address this, FAL plans to use funding from the Growth Accelerator to expand its production line and enhance its distribution and logistics networks, focusing on making its products accessible to lower-income urban and peri-urban households.
The funding will support also FAL in procuring additional machinery, acquiring a utility vehicle, and constructing a fully equipped factory. Through this expansion, FAL aims to strengthen its ability to deliver clean, efficient and affordable fuel alternatives across Malawi, contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape.
